Cosmic, Sonic, Animistic

This year will be quite the active one for Permanent Collection space at the José de Guimarães International Arts Centre-CIAJG, with its offerings alternating between older and more experienced artists, and its wide variety of programs and events in store, which include the display of some never-before-seen works by the Centre`s namesake, José de Guimarães.
In the new arrengment of the collection we will have the opportunity to revisit a set of historic pieces by José de Guimarães, which have not been visible to the public since 2012. In fact, the pieces that integrated the intervention in the Museum of Luanda in 1968 are among the nucleus of the most relevant pieces of the author`s work. In dialogue with these pieces and the nucleus that constitute the permanent collection, we will also have a large exhibition of pieces by Fernando Lanhas, one of the central authors of Portuguese Art of the second half of the 20th century, and a set of sculptures of Rui Chafes, one of the most important artists of the present time.
