A child prodigy in his native China, Liu Fang currently lives in Canada. She is considered to be one of the most eminent soloists on the pipa, a traditional Chinese instrument, and is also an excellent performer on the Guzheng, a Chinese plucked zither. Her talent crosses all linguistic and cultural borders. She has performed numerous concerts around the world to great acclaim, including solo recitals of Chinese classical and traditional music and contemporary music, with orchestras, and string quartets. Author of nine solo and collaborative albums, Liu Fang is highly acclaimed for her projects, “Silk and Steel”, in which she has collaborated with world-class musicians from various traditions.
