SATURDAY, SEPTEMBER 6, 5:00 PM
Presentation of the book “Aventuras” by Patrícia Portela

Inspired by The Adventures of João Without Fear, Patrícia Portela invites us to cross the wall of reality and rediscover the importance of imagination in a time when thinking, feeling, and acting have become acts of resistance. In a parade of encounters with characters that echo the universe of José Gomes Ferreira, the relevance of his message stands out: in a world saturated with information and events, daring to leap over walls and challenge fear has never been more vital. This manual is a map for those who still dare to exist with eyes wide open and a restless heart.
Manual para Andar Espantada por Existir is a literary work born from the performance Aventuras, co-produced by A Oficina, which premiered in Guimarães at the CIAJG in October 2024, following its international debut at the renowned Krokusfestival in Belgium. A show “forbidden to anyone not constantly amazed to be alive.” Drawing from two fiction works with the same title — one by Portuguese author José Gomes Ferreira and the other by Flemish writer Constant de Kinder — the companies Laika, theater van den zinnen, and Prado – Associação Cultural came together to create a mobile installation that tells the story of a João Without Fear and a João Afraid.
The book launch will take place on September 6 at 5:00 PM, at the CIAJG bookshop, with the presence of author Patrícia Portela and Francisco Neves, Head of Education and Cultural Mediation at A Oficina.
